We’ve all spent a lot of time at home looking at the same four walls this year. As life changes I’ve been itching to update our home for summer and make it feel less like the Netflix binge room it has become.
Besides the new lights that are coming from China the cushions have had a summer update courtesy of H&M. I discovered their classic collection during lockdown and have bought so many new things to update our home. For the price the quality is fantastic and their range of home accessories is huge. Here’s a round-up of my cushion update and some other home accessories that I’ve got my eye on.
Cushion Styling Tips
Style it for the living room.
Don’t forget that sofas are made for sitting on and too many cushions can make it uncomfortable. Start with two or three in the corners and build it from the there! I prefer to use odd numbers of cushions whilst Mr.E prefers symmetry.
Layer different shapes and sizes.
Mixing and match different sized cushions to create a relaxed and designed feel.
Mix and match colours, fabric and patterns.
Select one or two prints and then layer in neutrals and colours that complement the others. When choosing patterns, it’s best to pair small-scale prints with larger-scale ones, so they’re not fighting for attention.
Choose materials that suit your lifestyle.
If you have children or pets opt for fabrics like linen or cotton that are easily washable.
Refresh with the seasons.
By choosing a mix of neutral prints and solids you can add in bold prints and colours as the seasons change. By changing out two or three you can create a whole new look like I have for summer.
